Privacy Policy

This policy covers the ThinqBits app for iPhone and iPad.
The short version
ThinqBits collects nothing about you.
There is no account, no sign-up, and no server. The app has no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Every council runs on your own device using Apple Intelligence, and everything it produces — your questions, your decisions, your journal, your saved principles — is stored only on that device.
We cannot see your questions. We have no ability to read, retrieve, or recover them. This is not a setting you turn on; it is the only way the app is built.
The rest of this page explains that in full, including the few things you can choose to send somewhere yourself.
Who we are
ThinqBits is published by Scad Group Inc. For any privacy question, write to niraj@scad.ventures and a person will answer.
What we collect
Nothing. We collect no personal data, no usage data, no diagnostics, and no identifiers.
The app makes no network requests of its own. It does not transmit your questions, your deliberations, your decisions, or anything derived from them. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting SDK, no advertising identifier, and no device fingerprinting. We do not ask for tracking permission because we have nothing to track.
Because we collect nothing, there is no profile of you anywhere, nothing to breach, and nothing to sell.
What is stored on your device
Everything the app produces stays in the app's private storage on your device:
- The questions you bring and the position you stake before a council argues
- The councils themselves — the thinqers, the collision map, the blind spots and open questions
- Mental models you choose to keep
- Your decision journal: what you decided, and what you later recorded about how it turned out
- Your calibration record — which objections turned out to matter
- Thinqer Packs you build or import
- Your settings, and what the app has learned locally about the lenses you lean on
None of this is backed up to us, because there is no "us" to back up to. It is protected by your device's own security, and it is removed completely when you delete the app.
The only ways anything leaves your device
The app never sends your content anywhere on its own. There are three things you can choose to do that send something off your device. Each one requires a deliberate action by you, each shows you what is being shared before it happens, and none of it comes to us.
- Sharing a Thinqer Pack. If you share a pack, the app writes a file containing that pack's name, description, and its thinqers, and hands it to your device's standard share sheet. Where it goes from there — Messages, Mail, AirDrop, a cloud drive — is entirely your choice, and is then governed by whichever service you chose. Packs contain the thinqers you designed; they do not contain your questions, decisions, or journal.
- Sharing a mental model. If you share a saved principle, the app renders it as an image card and passes it to the same share sheet. It contains that principle's name and text.
- Taking a question to another AI. When a question is better suited to open-ended exploration, the app can offer to hand it off. If you accept, it copies a prompt containing your question to your clipboard and opens that service's website — for example Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini. Once you paste your question into another company's service, that company's privacy policy governs it, not ours. We have no relationship with those services, receive nothing from them, and cannot see what you send. If you would rather keep a question entirely on your device, simply don't use the handoff.
Third parties
No third party receives any user data from this app. We share nothing, because we hold nothing. There are no analytics providers, no advertising networks, no data brokers, no affiliates, and no third-party SDKs bundled in the app. The app contains no third-party code at all.
Two parties are worth naming explicitly, for completeness:
- Apple provides the on-device Apple Intelligence model that powers deliberation. It runs locally on your device; your questions are not sent to Apple to be processed by it. Apple also operates the App Store and processes subscription payments — see below. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
- Any service you deliberately share to — see the three cases above. You choose it; it governs what you send it.
Should we ever engage a third party that handles user data, we will require it by contract to provide the same or equal protection of that data as this policy and Apple's guidelines require, and we will update this page before doing so.
Subscriptions and payment
ThinqBits offers an optional subscription. All payment is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see, receive, or store your payment details — no card number, no billing address, no name.
Your subscription status is verified on your device by Apple's StoreKit framework. We operate no subscription server and keep no customer database. Apple provides us with aggregate sales and subscription reports that do not identify individual customers.
To manage or cancel a subscription, use Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device, or Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription inside ThinqBits. Cancellation is handled by Apple.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, ThinqBits can remind you that a council has finished, or that a decision you recorded is ready to be checked against its outcome. These are local notifications scheduled on your device. No push server is involved, no device token is created, and nothing about you is transmitted. Declining notifications costs you nothing — every reminder also appears inside the app.
Your rights, and how to exercise them
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the CCPA to access, correct, export, or delete personal data a company holds about you, and to withdraw consent.
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or delete. You are nonetheless welcome to contact niraj@scad.ventures with any request or question, and we will respond and confirm this in writing.
You retain complete control of your own copy of the data at all times, because it lives on your device and nowhere else:
- Delete selected records — remove any individual council, decision, mental model, or pack from inside the app.
- Delete everything the app has learned about you — Settings → Reset and start from zero. This permanently erases every saved council, your decision journal and calibration, your saved mental models, and everything the app has inferred about how you think.
- Delete all of it — delete the app. That removes its entire storage from your device irreversibly.
There is no waiting period and no request to file, because there is no copy anywhere else.
Data retention
We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. Your data is retained on your device for exactly as long as you keep it there, and is destroyed when you delete it or delete the app.
Children
ThinqBits is not directed to children. It is a decision-reasoning tool intended for adults, and it collects no data from anyone of any age.
These pages
This policy also covers the pages that accompany the app: this one, the ThinqBits app home page, and its support page. They collect nothing either. They set no cookies, run no analytics, embed no tracking pixels, and build no profile of visitors. Our web host records standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability, retained briefly and never used to identify or profile you.
Scad Group Inc. also operates a separate web-based product on this domain, which is not the ThinqBits iOS app. It has its own accounts and its own privacy terms, and nothing on this page describes it.
Important, and separate from privacy
ThinqBits is a reasoning partner, not a source of facts and not professional advice. It reasons offline with no internet access, so verify anything that reads like a fact. It is never a substitute for medical, legal, or financial advice, or for a professional's judgment.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the effective date above. If a change ever means the app begins collecting data, we will say so plainly and prominently rather than quietly editing this page.
